Kunstgewerbeschule

The school for arts and crafts was founded 1867 by the "Austrian Museum for Art and Industry", famous masters like R. Eitelberger, teachers like Josef Hoffmann, Kolo Moser and Alfred Roller foundet its international fame. 1941-1945 the institution was named "Reichshochschule für angewandte Kunst", 1948 it was overtaken by the state as an academy, from 1970 on the school was titled Hochschule and finally in 1998, nowadays, it is known as the University of Applied Arts Vienna. The following subjects are taught: architecture, sculpture, industrial design, painting and graphics, textile design, video art, handcrafts further: stage design, fashion, product design as well as preservation.
