Galaxy Chair
This extremely rare chair from the 'Atomic' or 'Space Age Design Period' has the Serial number of #148 and was manufactured by SVOBODA around 1980. Initiated by Peter Noever in the mid 1960ies, the then young and upcoming Austrian Artist Walter Pichler launched the GALAXY Project. The first presentation of this legendary chair took place at the Museum of Applied Art (MAK) in Vienna, on the occasion of the Exhibition 'Selection 66', arranged by the Shooting-star of the architectural Scene Hans Hollein . In May 2015 a pair of the 'GALAXY' chair has reached a price of €uro 31.250,- at a Design auction at the 'Dorotheum' in Vienna. Lit.: G.
